The features and benefits of the deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to address severe tension and pain in the muscles and connective tissues. When muscles are highly distressed, they can become hard and painful to the touch.
This severe tension often leads to the development of muscle knots, known as myofascial trigger points. These knots can apear due to factors such as anxiety, stress, muscle overuse, repetitive movements, or poor posture. They typically occur in areas like the neck, shoulders, and back. Those affected may experience ongoing tension and gnawing pain in these muscles even when they are at rest.

To address these knots, various massage techniques are employed, including friction, stretching, and trigger point manipulation. Additionally, incorporating both deep and light strokes and skin rolling helps enhance circulation throughout the entire area. This not only reduces tension in the entire muscle group, but also makes the massage experience more pleasant.

It’s important to note that deep tissue massage can exert significant pressure on soft tissues, which may lead to discomfort during and after the treatment. Consequently, it is not suitable for individuals who are frail or exceptionally slim.

The deep tissue massage serves to break up scar tissue and alleviate tension across all layers of muscle.

This type of massage can also have an indirect impact on limbs that are otherwise inaccessible due to presence of ‘Plaster of Paris’ or open wounds. Approximately twenty percent of the positive physical effects, including nutrients and oxygen, can reach these inaccessible limbs through connections via the nervous and vascular systems.
